COMPETITION RULES
General
1 Images
submitted must not have been previously used in whole or in part or in a
different medium in a previous internal club competition.
2 The Club
will take reasonable care in handling members’ work, but will not be
responsible for loss or damage however caused.
3 Any
dispute arising over the conduct of a Club competition will be referred to the
Chairman, Secretary and Competition Secretary whose majority decision on the
matter shall be final.
4 Prints
must be mounted on card (minimum 25cms x 20 cms , max
50 cms x 40 cms overall
mount size.) They must be marked on the reverse to indicate the top and
titled. Slides should be spotted on the
bottom left hand corner as the slide is viewed on the screen. Digitally projected images in JPEG format must
be submitted on a disc or memory stick sized to 1024 pixels horizontal and no more than 768
pixels vertical. The file size must not exceed 350 Kb. All entries must only carry the members’
identification number and title.
5 Late
entries will only be accepted at the Competition Secretary’s discretion.
6 There
is no distinction between film, digital wet processing or digital processing
unless specified in the competition subject and type.
7 All
photographs submitted for Club competitions shall have been exposed by the
entrant and be their copyright.
8 The
submission should accurately reflect the competition subject as this will be
taken in to consideration by the judge(s)
9 An
invited, appropriately qualified external judge will usually carry out the
judging of competitions.
10 Inappropriate
entries or untitled or un-numbered entries will not be accepted.
Competitions
11 A member may enter a maximum of three entries in any competition
12 All
entries will be marked by the judge out of 20 marks and the judge will be
invited to award their 1st, 2nd and 3rd and Highly
Commended as they deem appropriate.
13 A “Club Photographer of the Year Competition
will be held requiring an entry of 4 print
images – one from each of the following 8 categories:-
Landscape/Seascape/Skyscape
People/Portraits
Photo
Art/Abstract
Architecture/Interiors
Natural
History in its widest interpretation
Still
Life/Macro
Photo
Journalism/Sport
Mono (APAGB
definition)
Entries (by section) will be marked by an
external judge out of 20 marks and the
winner will be the photographer accruing the most marks in total from this
competition.
The winner will receive a trophy to be held
for one year.
14 A “Club Photographer of the Year Competition
will be held requiring an entry of 4 digital
images – one from each of the following 8 categories:-
Landscape/Seascape/Skyscape
People/Portraits
Photo
Art/Abstract
Architecture/Interiors
Natural
History in its widest interpretation
Still
Life/Macro
Photo
Journalism/Sport
Mono (APAGB
definition)
Entries (by section) will be marked by an
external judge out of 20 marks and the
winner will be the photographer accruing the most marks in total from this
competition.
The winner will receive a trophy to be held
for one year.
The Digital Images must be saved at Level 12 in JPEG format and must be submitted on a disc or memory stick sized to 1400 pixels horizontal and no more than 1050 pixels vertical at 100 DPI and saved in sRGB. All entries must only carry the members’ identification number and title.
