Garden Open - Saturday & Sunday 28-29th April

Club member Colin MacPherson is opening 'Stoneyhurst' his two and a half acre garden on Saturday & Sunday 28-29th April.
Entry by donations, proceeds to Hospicecare.
The garden at 900ft features spectacular views, lawns, dry stone walls, young and mature trees , plants and a paddock with wild flowers. Dogs (on leads) are welcome and there is limited wheelchair access.

Colin is offering a bottle of wine for the best photo of his garden.

Knighthays Trophy 2012

Following his win in 2009, Club Secretary, Derek Stratton gained a Highly Commended in the 2012 Competition the subject of which was Co-operation.
Derek's print Man and Horse was highly Commended by the Judge Brian Galbraith CPAGB and Western Counties Photographic Federation President and his other entry was also singled out for favourable comment.

OKEHAMPTON CAMERA CLUB

 

GENERAL RULES  

 

1        The OBJECTS of the Okehampton Camera Club are to provide a forum for photographers and aspiring photographers both amateur and professional to meet and participate in the Club activities.

2        To enjoy the BENIFITS of the Club a person must become a Member. A person becomes a temporary member when attending the Club as a prospective member (see 4 below) or attends the Club by invitation or on payment of a fee for a specific event.

3        MEMBERSHIP: A person applying for Membership is required to complete an application form which should be given to the Secretary of the Club. Details provided on the Application Form will be read out to the existing members at a meeting and/or posted on the notice board.

If no written objection to the proposer, stating reasons, is received by the Committee from any member of the Club within 7 days following publication of information about the prospective member, that person, upon payment of the membership subscription fee shall be considered to be elected to Membership.

If any such objection has been filed with the Committee it shall vote on this matter at its next meeting. If approved despite the objection, the proposed Member, upon payment of the membership subscription fee shall be considered to be elected to Membership.

4        A PROSPECTIVE MEMBER may attend the Club for 3 (three) free visits during which that persons application form must be submitted to the Secretary. A person may become an Associate Member at a reduced subscription if they are the non photographic spouse or partner of a fully paid up  Member or do not wish to enter photographic competitions or vote at a General Meeting

5        THE COMMITTEE reserves the right to terminate the membership of any person for breach of the Club rules or for inappropriate behavior or any acts against the interests of the Club. That member is not entitled to a refund of subscription.

6        SUBSCRIPTIONS: The members shall at the Annual General Meeting approve the annual subscription for the forthcoming year.

Subscriptions are due to be paid before the end of September. Members joining after the 1st February may have their subscription reduced pro rata at the Treasurers discretion. Members whose subscription renewal has not been received before 31st October shall be considered to have let their membership lapse, but they may rejoin at any time on payment of the subscription.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP:  Honorary Life Membership may be conferred on a member for outstanding service to the Club, or to photography, or for the achievement of exceptional distinction in photography. Any member may propose to the Committee a nomination for Honorary Life Membership provided it is supported by at least two other members. A proposal for nomination may only be considered

 

 

THE COMMITTEE: The day to day affairs of the Club shall be managed by the Committee which will consist of the following officers:- .

   (a)           The President, who will be regarded as the senior member of the Club, and will act as the Club's representative in dealing with non-photographic organisations.

   (b)           The Chairman, who will be responsible for conducting the general, ordinary and committee meetings of the Club, and co-ordinating the work of committee members.

     (c)         The Club Secretary, who will be responsible for all correspondence not the province of the Programme or Competition Secretaries, the Treasurer or the Press and Publicity Officer. He or she will produce minutes of general and committee meetings of the Club, and will maintain the minute book.

   (d)           The Programme Secretary, who will be responsible for the production of the programme and all the arrangements in it that are not the province of the Secretary or Competition secretary.

   (e)           The Competition Secretary, who will be responsible for all internal competitions, and all arrangements connected with them.

(f)   The Treasurer, who will be responsible for the handling of the Clubs finances, including the collection of subscriptions, the payment of bills and all correspondence relating thereto and arranging and renewing the insurances of the Club. The Treasurer will also be responsible for the preparation of accounts, making periodic reports to the Committee and maintaining the clubs register of members which will include their addresses.

   (g)           The Publicity and Marketing Officer, who will be responsible for promoting the Club's activities on a local and national basis including the maintenance of the Club web site.

   (h)           The Equipment Officer, who is responsible for the preparation, operation and maintenance of all equipment and supplies pertaining to the activities of the Club.

   (i)            Up to two ordinary members of the Committee, who may be allocated special responsibilities.

 9.  QUORUM: Five committee members shall form a quorum.

10. COMMITTEE meetings shall be convened by the Chairman at his discretion, or on the written request of three other committee members.

11. The PRESIDENT shall hold office for 5 years and may stand for re-election at that time. The President will be appointed from nominations made to the Club by the Committee and elected by Club Members in a postal ballot. In the event of equal numbers of votes for two or more candidates, the retiring President shall have the Casting Vote. The minimum length of Club membership required for nomination as President is five years. Any member of the Club may put forward a member’s name for consideration by the Committee. Other officers of the Club shall hold office from one Annual General Meeting until the next; they may be re-elected, but may not serve in any capacity for more than three consecutive years unless the President, with the agreement of the other members of the Committee, recommends that they should, and this recommendation is endorsed at the Annual General Meeting.

 

 

 


GENERAL MEETINGS

12. An ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING shall be held not later than the end of June.

13. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETINGS shall be called by the Committee, at its discretion, or on the written request of any five members of the Club.

14. NOTICE of any general meeting and details of its agenda shall be given either by written notice dispatched to all members at least ten days beforehand, or by announcement at the three previous ordinary meetings and posted on the Club notice board.

15. EVERY FULLMEMBER present shall have one vote, but any full member not present may vote by proxy. An intention to vote by proxy must be sent to reach the Secretary at least 48 hours before the meeting. Five ordinary full members must be present to form a quorum.

GENERAL RULES

16. The RULES may only be amended at a general meeting of the Club. A copy of the rules shall be lodged in the minute book, and other copies shall be made available to club members at any reasonable time.

ACCOUNTS

17. The accounts shall be presented at the Annual General Meeting for acceptance, having previously been approved by the Account Examiner.

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS

18. INTERNAL COMPETITIONS shall be open to bona-fide full members, and shall be judged in accordance with the official competition rules, published separately.

19  RULES for any internal competition may be produced by the Committee, at its discretion, and shall then be published.

EXHIBITIONS AND EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS

20. The COMMITTEE shall make the decision to enter an exhibition or external competition.

21. SELECTION of prints, slides and sequences for an exhibition or external competition shall be made by a panel of three members nominated by the Club at a general meeting. A minimum of three members will be required at any Selection Committee Meeting and the Competition Secretary and Chairman may be present as a non-voting member of the panel.

22. The COMPETION SECRETARY shall maintain a record, for use by the selection panel, of all prints and slides favourably received at previous internal and external competitions.

23. The CLUB shall have first call on all material entered for a competition or exhibition, until that competition or exhibition is concluded.

MERGER

24  .A resolution to merge the Club with a similar club or society may only be put to an extraordinary general meeting called for the purpose, and shall require the consent of not less than two thirds of the paid-up membership of the Club on the day of the meeting. Such merger may only take place with a club or society which prohibits the distribution of its income and property amongst its members.


DISSOLUTION OF THE CLUB

25. A RESOLUTION to dissolve the Club may only be put to an extraordinary general meeting called for the purpose, and shall require the consent of not less than two thirds of the paid-up membership of the Club on the day of the meeting. Any funds remaining after the realisation of assets and discharge of all liabilities shall be made over to one or more registered charities for the benefit of photography by a simple majority vote.

CONCLUSION

26. MEMBERSHIP of the Club implies acceptance of the rules of the Club.

The merged jpeg file was 70MB (my processor will not handle this in tiff so I converted the raw files into tiff then saved as 8 bit jpegs which were then merged and subsequently compressed in resolution and size to 800 pixls wide x 72 dpi.) for email transmission @185kb this shows the advantage of working vertical as I have a 240 dpi image 27" x16.4" for printing - Derek Stratton


Derek wins again !!
Our Secretary Derek Stratton has won a certificate in the National Finals of the United Photographic Postfolios of Great Britain. This is an organisation with about 350 members nationaly who exchange prints, slides, digital images and audio visual presentations competitively thro 31 circles on a monthly basis.
Every year the best prints from each member are judged on a national basis. He has been awarded a Circle Certificate for circle C60 with his image of a Barn Owl of which the judges said " a Natural History image of the highest order"
